Over the last 20 years, most bilateral and multilateral donor agencies have developed gender integration and mainstreaming policies as a demonstration of their governments’ commitments to international agreements and in recognition of the vital role gender equality plays in supporting economic growth, effective governance, and healthy and well-educated populations.
