Presentation Summary: This presentation is an in-depth look at Tearfund’s Transforming Masculinities model and the impact of faith-based interventions on engaging men for the prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Transforming Masculinities uses scripture-based reflections and continuous coaching from faith leaders to help communities integrate and adapt strategies for GBV prevention and gender equity. The model has now been scaled-up in 8 countries across the world from Sub-Saharan Africa to Southeast Asia.

Presented by: Prabu Deepan is currently the gender technical lead for SGBV prevention and peacebuilding initiatives at Tearfund. He is a human rights activist and practitioner based in Sri Lanka. In the last 10 years he has contributed to the work on gender, SGBV, HIV and AIDS, and human rights work of many organizations, both in Sri Lanka and Internationally. At Tearfund he leads the evidence-based Transforming Masculinities intervention in DR Congo, Myanmar, Iraq, Nigeria, Liberia, Central African Republic and the Central American Region.
