The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Referral Pathway provides frontline workers responding to GBV with a one-stop guide that includes information on services presently being offered in Prague. It supports coordination among service providers to meet the needs of survivors. It safely links survivors to supportive and competent services in a timely way and includes any or all of the following: safety and security, health, case management, psychosocial, legal/justice, and follow-up services.

Published in recognition of the 2023 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign, this brief highlights six innovative approaches—related to community engagement and system strengthening—for addressing GBV. The case studies from three MOMENTUM projects offer practical insights for gender experts, practitioners, and advocates, particularly those working in GBV pre­vention and response, to apply and adapt in their own work.

In reponse to a need for an efficient and effective way to monitor routine screening for gender-based violence (GBV), D4I developed a report that highlights data collection and reporting practices related to GBV identification and response within family planning clinics and facilities that provide sexual and reproductive health services. This report describes facility-level data collection processes, identifies information gaps, and explores barriers and facilitators to collecting information on GBV identification and response.

Among the internationally accepted global frameworks seeking to tackle violence against women and children, the central concepts of prevention and response have guided actions against both forms of violence. However, this approach falls short in crucial ways. The global Brave Movement, launched in 2022, builds on the work of survivor advocates and puts forward a new, comprehensive framework for action that encompasses prevention, healing, and justice.

Humanitarian assistance in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been inadequate for many years, with a widening gap between assistance coverage and growing needs. Due to these limited resources, the WFP has only been able to reach one third of the acutely food insecure in Eastern DRC, disproportionately impacting women and girls because of their responsibilities in caring for and feeding their households. As a result of this lack of resources, women and girls are forced to take greater risks to make ends meet, which leaves them vulnerable to increased cases of gender-based violence.

This webinar highlighted the power of data and stories to raise awareness about the impacts of environmental degradation and climate change on the prevalence of gender-based violence. Speakers presented current efforts to collect this data, the role of data in developing programs related to environment and gender-based violence, and how data and stories can play a key role in development of national and international policies.
