To address the void in ethical, reliable, and comparable violence against women prevalence data across Asia and the Pacific, the first phase of the kNOwVAWdata Initiative was launched by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the UNFPA Asia-Pacific Regional Office from 2016–2021. This report highlights the results of the first phase of the Initiative.

This blog post describes the impact of SHOPS Plus’ integrated intimate partner violence and family planning digital campaign project in India, targeting women and their partners using the hashtag #KyaYeHinsaNahi? (“Is this not violence?”). The campaign aimed to recognize intimate partner violence in its early stages and empower women to take action and seek help.

Although intimate partner violence (IPV) is inherently a relational event shaped by couple-level factors, most empirical examinations of IPV-related attitudes have used individuals as the unit of analysis. There, the researchers explain applying a dyadic perspective to the study of attitudes about the acceptability of IPV, harnessing couple-level data from 33 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

This toolkit delivers practical guidance and resources for measuring the prevalence and extent of students’ experiences of school-related gender-based violence (SRGBV), and provides methods for assessing key risk factors and drivers of SRGBV. The toolkit includes a survey to measure all forms of SRGBV, plus helps identify and measure the risk factors and drivers of SRGBV.

This report explores the intersection between intimate partner violence and child support—an important, yet often overlooked, issue. The research responds to a request from the Malawi Judiciary to analyze best practices regarding better enforcement of child maintenance orders by the courts in order to lessen the prevalence of economic violence against women who often provide more child care.
