Our training materials can be used to introduce a broad range of audiences and backgrounds to important concepts related to gender and health. Each training course focuses on one of five themes that complement the CORE Gender 101 agenda: Gender Integration, HIV + Sexuality, Safe Motherhood, Gender-Based Violence, and Constructive Male Engagement. The courses are designed to meet the geographic and technical needs of cooperating agencies, USAID Missions, and specific projects. Materials range from basics such as using a shared gender vocabulary and programmatic guidance, to user guides on how to conduct a gender analysis, to exercises for gender trainings. The trainings are geared to be used by anyone and with any audience, even those learning about gender for the first time!
Our popular Gender Integration Continuum framework is an important tool to assess how programs do (or do not) address gender and move them toward more gender-transformative actions. An updated User’s Guide for facilitating training on use of the continuum is available, along with other materials.
This resource aims to inform organizations managing Safe Spaces in the development of gender transformative approaches that not only address the immediate needs of women and girls, but whose impact also extends to shift the preconceptions, stereotypes, and norms that inhibit the evolution of gender dynamics, particularly in communities with deeply ingrained patriarchal attitudes.
This report documents the methods, findings, and key learnings of a qualitative study conducted in four provinces in Burundi to explore social norms related to the reproductive health behaviors of unmarried adolescent girls and young women. Additionally, the study simultaneously aimed to identify relevant individuals and groups who influence and uphold these social norms. The report is available in English and French.
In this analysis, Health Policy Plus examines the policy environment for male engagement in family planning across 26 USAID priority countries for family planning. The in-depth analysis examines national polices for reproductive health and family planning and/or gender, and offers priority policy actions that strengthen a supportive environment for engaging men and boys in family planning programs and services.
This special edition of Shujaaz Inc.’s COVID-19 Barometer, produced in partnership with UNICEF, draws on face-to-face interviews with 2,015 young people conducted between December 2020 and January 2021. Drawing on additional qualitative insights and conversations with girls across Kenya, the Barometer aims to provide an update on key topics including education, family planning and reproductive health, financial security, mental well-being, and resilience.
This updated review looks at the evidence on factors affecting access to and uptake of family planning for women and girls with disabilities in low- and middle-income countries and the evidence of good practice on increasing fully free and informed contraceptive choice for women and girls with disabilities.
To address the void in ethical, reliable, and comparable violence against women prevalence data across Asia and the Pacific, the first phase of the kNOwVAWdata Initiative was launched by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the UNFPA Asia-Pacific Regional Office from 2016–2021. This report highlights the results of the first phase of the Initiative.
