This report highlights the impacts of the Deyr rainy season (occurring between October and December), which has begun in parts of Somalia, causing displacement, loss of life, and destruction. Women and children are disproportionately affected during times of flooding. Based on current statistics, the projected month-long flooding is expected to increase the number of miscarriages by up to 374 cases (in November alone), 57 stillbirths, and 499 pregnancy/newborn complications.Read More

Humanitarian assistance in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been inadequate for many years, with a widening gap between assistance coverage and growing needs. Due to these limited resources, the WFP has only been able to reach one third of the acutely food insecure in Eastern DRC, disproportionately impacting women and girls because of their responsibilities in caring for and feeding their households. As a result of this lack of resources, women and girls are forced to take greater risks to make ends meet, which leaves them vulnerable to increased cases of gender-based violence.Read More
