This document presents USAID’s updated policy on gender equality and female empowerment. The new policy has three primary aims: 1) To reduce gender disparities in access to, control over and benefit from resources, opportunities and services; 2) to reduce gender-based violence; and 3) to increase the ability of women and girls to realize their rights, determine their life outcomes, and influence decision-making in their homes, communities and societies.
