The purpose of this manual, designed for staff of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), is to facilitate a qualitative understanding of quantitative data from a gender perspective. It includes five matrixes focusing on the development issues of poverty, employment, political participation, health and wellbeing, and education. Each matrix contains examples of the types of quantitative data used to assess that development issue, and questions to guide a qualitative exploration to help interpret the data from a gender perspective. The matrices are part of a series of resources produced by SDC’s Gender Unit.
