2020 IGWG Plenary: The Gendered Impact of COVID-19 on Caregivers and Community Health Workers

We warmly invite you to the 2020 IGWG virtual Plenary! We hope you will take this opportunity to connect virtually with your fellow IGWG members, learn from each other, and reflect on the IGWG’s key role as a network of global gender equality champions.
The novel coronavirus pandemic is revealing global health, social, and economic disparities, and disrupting traditional caregiving and domestic gender roles, with profound impacts on gender norms in the health care system. This year’s plenary will explore shifting gender norms in caregiving and other household roles, and the gendered impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the health care system. The plenary will highlight the perspectives and experiences of caregivers and community health workers addressing the pandemic and discuss ways to advance gender equality in the home and community.

Lightning Round presentations will be followed by a “Knowledge Café” to provide a virtual space for members to discuss the challenges and/or solutions from the presentations.
